Summer Fun

We have been busy this summer!  Here's a few random things we have been up too!

Building blanket forts

Doing the summer reading program from the library.  These are from a children's museum without walls activity that they had.

Glade patiently waiting for the presentation.

They had a musher come one week.  She brought a few dogs and some sleds that the kids loved.

Swimming lessons are always fun!  Go Glade!

Kim is getting to be quite the swimmer!

Seems like the lawn ALWAYS needs to be mowed!

We love to play at the park!

We have also enjoyed some wildlife this summer.  These were in our yard one night!

Dipnetting

If you are an Alaska resident, you are allowed to go to a few places in the state and gather a bunch of salmon.  Ryan went with a few friends to the Chitina River to do just that.

The people across the river.

You use big nets that you just draw through the water and hope to catch something.

Super-steep!  Good thing they tied up to the ropes.

Someone had luck, as evidenced by these salmon scales, but not us.

Denali by Train

This summer we took an opportunity to ride the train to Denali and back.  It was such a fun experience.  Here is the train depot in Fairbanks.

The kids were really excited to get on.

We spent a bit of time in the back where you can look out.

Denali Depot

We had about 4 hours so we went on a hike in the park.  It was a nice day out and only sprinkled a little bit.

After the hike we played in the water.

I love this picture of little feet!

Someone had a meltdown.

Then we got ice cream to eat while we waited for the train.

Here it comes!

Getting back on!

Long day, but fun!

Girls Camp 2012

Since I am in the Young Women's now, I had the opportunity to go to Girls Camp for a few days.  It was a really fun experience.  I loved getting to know the girls better and seeing their fun personalities.

New Cameras and Family Outings

Ryan got a new camera in June and we have really been enjoying it and the great pictures it gives us.  One evening shortly after we got it, we took a walk to Creamer's Field.  We had a great time walking around, enjoying the beautiful world, and, of course, trying out the new camera.

Summertime Fishing

We have gone on several family fishing trips this summer with mixed success.  The first was on the river.  We had a lot of fun, but no luck as far as fish are concerned.

We went to Twin Bears Lake a few weeks later and actually did catch a few fish.  Some of the kids decided they liked fish after all.  Fishing is a great family activity and it is fun to see the kids get into it.

Someone got wet!  :(
