Clear Creek Metro Park

Ryan is planning to climb Mt. Rainier in July after we move to Washington, so we will probably be doing a lot of hiking now that the weather is getting better. I can sure use the exercise too! Today we went for a 5-mile hike on several trails at Clear Creek Metro Park. It was pretty close to Columbus, only a few miles past Lancaster. It was one of the best places we have hiked here in Central Ohio, so if you're looking for a place to hike, head this way. The Hemlock Trail was our favorite part of the hike. It had some beautiful trees, a lot of single-track, and was pretty rugged. We thought it was really beautiful and are hoping to go back before we move. Glade and Kim are pretty good hikers. Glade was happy the whole time until he fell asleep and Kim did well also. She likes to walk part of the way on her own, which is great.

There was this cool rock by the road called Leaning Lena. You can see how big it is as we drive under it!

Let's Go Fly a Kite

Ryan has been working at the Dayton VA this week and he went to the Air Force Museum one day on his lunch break. He picked up this fun paint-able kite for Kim. She had a great time painting it, but we couldn't really get it to fly.

Fortunately, one of the advantages of being a fourth-year dental student is that you get Friday afternoons off. So we loaded up the car and headed down by the river to a parking lot to try again since there was more wind. We did get it to fly for a little while, but not perfect yet! It was fun though. I haven't flown a kite in a long time.

Easter Dress

My latest project has been to make an Easter Dress for Kimberly. I did get it done on time and she really loves it. She felt like a princess and just couldn't keep herself from dancing in Primary, she informed me when I had to come and talk to her about it. I think it turned out really cute. I hope she gets lots of good wear out of it! I made it as a surprise for her. My mom has good memories of when she was a girl hearing her mother sew late into the night and on Easter morning waking up to find a new dress on her bed. So that is what I did and hopefully we can make it a tradition.

I spent so much time getting her dress ready that Glade was ignore, poor dear and didn't get anything new for Easter, but I think he is handling it quite well! :)

Blogging

Well, the craze has finally overtaken me. I have been looking at a lot of people's blogs lately and have realized that blogging is a great way to keep in contact with people. Since we are about to move, this is sounding very appealing right now. So here we go to give it a try.
