Birthday Ball

Okay, here's another big something that we've been up to.

The DENTAC (Dental Activities) Birthday Ball was last weekend. Let me tell you, it was an adventure trying to fill all of the requirements (modest gown, high-waisted to allow for and hide an expanding belly, not too expensive, etc.). We bought a new uniform for Ryan, Dress Blues, nice, but expensive. After looking around quite a bit I decided on a dress with a matching wrap that I made into sleeves, a front piece and a back piece. It actually turned out pretty well.

Ryan was on-call for the weekend and ended up getting called in and helping three patients in the ER right before, but I just picked him up at the hospital and we were only 30 minutes late, which isn't too bad since the first hour is socializing.

Ryan was supposed to have another job, but due to an error in printing, ended up being the Master of Ceremonies. Turned out to be a pretty big job, but a good experience. They were taking "prom" pictures and we got some taken, but haven't gotten them back yet. I'll post one when we do.

It was a nice evening. Thanks Peterson's for keeping our kids!

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

Now to tell you some of what we've been up to lately.

First of all, my older brother Armand's wife Cheryl had a little baby girl today and they named her Sarah Cheryl. Can't wait to see some pictures!

Also, I had a Dr.'s appt. today and this is what I have to show for it.

Little foot

Little Arm

Little Girl!

Yep, we're adding another little girl to our family in early August. Can't wait!

Haircut

I finally got my hair cut a few weeks ago. It really needed it and I was happy with the results. Let me know what you think.

Capitol State Forest

Ryan had Friday off so we decided to head over to Capitol State Forest. It's not too far, so it was a short drive over. We got to take the Jeep out and were glad we had it. It was a beautiful day. We found a place to park the Jeep.

We went on a hike down to the Porter Creek, where we ate lunch.

Then the kids threw rocks into the stream.

The way back up is always longer and harder, but both of the kids did a really great job on the hike.

The plan was for Glade to have a quiet time/nap in the tent, but that didn't quite happen. I think it was too exciting to be in the tent and playing. In the end, Ryan was the only one to sleep in the tent while Kim and I played cards.

It was starting to get cold, so we pulled out the grill and grilled the shrimp we bought that morning. They turned out pretty well. Kimberly LOVES shrimp, but no other seafood, so she was happy.

Then it was time to pack up and come home. We decided it was too cold to stay overnight, plus it was supposed to rain all night and all day Saturday. It was a great day though and we had to take advantage of the sunshine. Now it is all rainy and will be all week. I think we'll check out Capitol State Forest again in the spring when they will hopefully have all of the roads open.

New Bike

No, not for Ryan, for Kim. We finally bought her a big girl bike. We found a really good one at the Ft. Lewis Thrift Shop. It is in great shape and seems to be just the right size for her. It's all right that it's red, because as she told me, "It's almost just like pink." She also picked out some training wheels at the thrift store, but they were too big, so we need to find some different ones.

Glade now gets sole occupancy of the tricycle. He looks excited too.

Wanna go Jeepin?

A few weeks ago we drove up to Anacortes, WA, and looked at a Jeep Cherokee. We decided to buy it and came home with it.

It was a really fun trip in a beautiful part of the state. We are planning to go back for the tulip festival in April. Then we can hopefully spend a weekend there.

Ryan's dad lived close by in Burlington for a few years while he was growing up while his father helped build a Shell Oil Refinery. We found the refinery and took some pictures. Can you see all the towers and things on the horizon?

Anacortes is in a beautiful location. Ocean all around. Islands in sight.

The people we bought the Jeep from did a lot of upgrades on it, but didn't really take it off road very much. So now we get to do that and enjoy it.

We have had lots of things going on, which I will post about in the near future, but for today, I just wanted to share this website that I have enjoyed. It is full of links to crafts and things that are great for kids.
